Due to problems with player availability as this tournament happens to be in the same year of the World Masters, a decision has been made not to enter a Redbacks team in this tournament. Instead, several of the Redback stallwarts wll be joining forces with the Essendon Golddiggers to field a combined team.

We have been contacted by the Melbourne Stingers who are still looking for players to fill their roster for this tournament. They can be contacted at Email Address if you would like to find out further informations
World Masters Games - 8 Oct - 18 Oct 2009 - Sydney

age group 45plus

due to the possible high demand for accommodation at the games and ensuring we have one location for the team, we have booked 20 rooms at Rooty Hill RSL for the games duration at a cost of $1450 per room, each room has one queen size bed and one single. The accommodation is approximately 15 minutes drive from the proposed two playing ground locations
-
the deposit has been paid by myself and some funds from our Redbacks account
What you need to do next
-
We have had a large response to book a spot on the roster for the World Masters. Please advise ASAP if you have any changes to your availablility as advised.
- as usual we will try and reduce some of the costs by gaining sponsorship, hopefully with two of the tournaments being in Australia, this may hopefully make a difference between someone helping us out or not due to the exposure
-
we will also look at some fundraising during this year. One thought was to run a wine fundraiser, something I assume all, well most people, have an interest in...................alcohol!!!!!!. Please let me know if you have any ideas
-
due to some interest from a number of players, we are throwing this out there for people to give it some thought, more on this one later
-
age group to be determined later but most likely 50 and over

The red-back spider (Lactrodectus hasselti) is a potentially dangerous spider now found throughout Australia. Its origins are uncertain, and it may have been spread by human activities during the 19th century. Red-back spiders are now found in all but the most inhospitable environments in Australia, particularly in urban and suburban areas.
The red-back spider is one of only two animals to date where the male has been found to actively assist the female in sexual cannibalism. In the process of mating, the much smaller male somersaults to place his abdomen over the females mouthparts. In about 2 out of 3 cases, the female consumes the male while mating continues, and if not, the male dies soon after mating. This strategy seems to benefit the male because the female will not mate again.!!!...(Huh?}
